Hogg Memorial Auditorium

Originally opened in 1933, Hogg Memorial Auditorium is one of The University of Texas at Austin’s historic performance venues. As part of a major renovation, the space was restored to support a wide range of modern campus events, from lectures and ceremonies to live performances and theatrical productions. The design preserves the auditorium’s architectural character while introducing upgraded acoustics, A/V systems, daylight control, and a more flexible technical infrastructure.

Lighting played a key role in bringing this historic volume back to modern performance standards. Installed across the auditorium’s high ceiling plane, estimated at over 40 ft above portions of the seating bowl, Meteor’s REV Series downlights provide the output and control needed to illuminate the space from a substantial mounting height. The system includes 42 REV 8 Prime, 30 REV 6, and 38 REV 4 fixtures, all equipped with DMX control and Archi-Color® W+RGB technology. With strong architectural white light and true-to-color RGB output in a single downlight family, the auditorium can shift from bright functional illumination to atmosphere-driven color scenes without compromising the restored ceiling aesthetic.
