Brown University Penner Field House
Winter in New England no longer signals the end of the season for outdoor sports. With the unveiling of the Penner Field House, Brown University has introduced a 76,000 square-foot sanctuary for year-round athletic performance. To power this massive indoor turf complex, the design team turned to the Whiz 2.0 Bi-Directional series to shape an environment where athletes can train, play, and excel regardless of the weather outside. The secret to the facility’s open, energized feel lies in the power of bi-directional illumination. By utilizing 140 fixtures that deliver up to 40,000 lumens of combined up- and downlighting, the goal is to ensure uniform brightness across the entire vertical volume, providing professional-grade visibility from the turf to the rafters. Designed for the intensity of collegiate sports, the Whiz 2.0 is as rugged as it is refined. Each unit features an IK10-rated Wire Guard to withstand high-velocity impacts, while the integrated flicker-free VX Driver™ ensures that every sprint and score is captured with broadcast-level clarity on camera.
